  • Denise: an adventure of hope with brain cancer

    January 6, 2009

Megan and I are friends with Jim and Denise Castle.
Jim and Denise were a part of our ministry in Colorado and financially support us now with Renew.
Denise, an older, compassionate, progressively-thinking follower of Jesus, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer on the last day of 2008.

In the midst of the shock of it all, she's courageously facing this battle in 2009.
Denise will be chronicling her journey with brain cancer on her newly created blog, appropriately titled Adventures in Hope.

Follow along with me on Denise's blog.
Jim and Denise: we're behind you both on this hopeful adventure!

    Hi JR,
I looked up your blog in hopes of reconnecting with you. Before I do that let me recommend two people for your friend with cancer to speak to: Ken Curtis and Michelle Maier. Ken and Michelle have both adopted a radical diet approach with some medicine (in the case of Ken, not Michelle) to treat their cancer. For the most part I think it has been successful in staving off any further growth in their cancer, along with an increase in general bodily health. Ken is the founder of Vision Video and the Christian History Institute (I have done some work with him) and recently made a video on the 23rd Psalm for people with cancer. You can contact him at ken@visionvideo.com. Let him know I sent you. Michelle’s husband works at Biblical and you can reach her through him. His name is Brian Maier.
Anyway, back to my original purpose of contacting you. It seems like you were gone in a blur and next thing I know several months have passed by, leaving me thinking what happened to this guy who I was getting to know and really liked. Anyway, how does your schedule look to get together for a cup of coffee or lunch? I would love to catch up with you and find out how things are going.
    Warm regards,
    Joe
Assistant Professor of Church History (Just to remind you in case you had forgotten.)
