Many of you know that my third book project, The Message//Remix: Solo, is a participatory book project using the Message paraphrase by Eugene Peterson. It was a collaborative writing project with Jan Johnson and Katie Peckham involving the text of the Message with the ancient prayer practice of lectio divina (“divine reading”). We’ve been caught off guard by the success of the book, which has been hovering somewhere on the Top 15 Bible Devotional List on Amazon for well over a year.
NavPress, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, is publishing a special edition of this project called The Message//Remix: Solo Pink Edition (due to be out on September 15). Major League Baseball uses pink bats once a year…why not a pink devotional, right?
The book isn’t on bookstore shelves yet and it already sold out the first print run. NavPress is partnering with Outreach of Hope, a ministry started and led by former San Francisco Giant’s pitcher Dave Dravecky and cancer survivor, with this project. [By the way, for any of you thinking I am hawking this to drive up sales, I receive no royalties on this project whatsoever].
I hope and pray that this resources will provide encouragement to those coping with this deadly disease.

1On the topic of breast cancer and awareness, I invite you to check out this video — ahamoment.com/pg/moments/view/6789 — about one very special woman’s “aha moment” that led her to walk around the world for the cause. Literally. It’s a wonderful story, and it’s about a lot more than breast cancer. I know you’ll find it extremely inspiring.
All the best,

2Hey JR, hope you are doing well. Miss having you in the Springs. I thought I would let you (and others reading your blog) know that the week following the release of this book, we are doing a special promotion for Friends and Family which you definitely qualify for. Anyone who enters this code (D82U7M3M3) and orders The Message//Remix Solo Pink Edition at NavPress.com will get $3 off their order. And of course, part of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research.
Tell Megan hello for me! Hope you are well!

3[...] As I wrote about earlier, NavPress published a special edition of one of the projects I wrote: The Message//Remix: Solo [Pink Edition] to help support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. (It’s amazing to think that 1 in 8 women worldwide will get breast cancer). [...]
