Attempting to behold the miracle long enough without falling asleep

  • What would Jesus say to…?

    January 14, 2009

I've been thinking a lot about the news lately.
It's been making me wonder: What would Jesus say to…

    …Rod Blagojevich?
    …contestants on American Idol?
    …Osama bin Laden?
…athletes on the Cardinals, Eagles, Steelers and Ravens?
    …Hammas?
    …Obama?

    Kjersten -
I know what you’re getting at – and I agree that love would be his tone – but I am struck with the fact that Jesus never had a template answer for anyone in the gospels. He never responded the same way to any two people. It always depended upon their context, situation and heart at the time (i.e. Zacchaeus, Woman Caught in Adultery, Nicodemus, Simon the Leper, Rich Young Ruler, the Pharisees, etc).
I think you’re right in the heart of his message, but I think its not as simplistic as you might be regarding his method. I think Jesus cared too much to give them a template response each time.
    I could be wrong though.
I’d be curious for your response or thoughts…

Hey JR- I definitely find myself agreeing with your thoughts. After I posted, I knew something just wasn’t right…but wasn’t able to put words to it-until I read your thoughts. Now I see, I was aiming at expressing His heart, not necessarily his words. There really is a mysterious beauty in the way He knows and speaks to each of us so uniquely. Thanks for pointing that out…
